Throughout the year we regularly go “in the field”. This includes activities in the forest which cater to a range of physical abilities including;
- stagwatching from November to March – click for more information
- tree planting in May – click for more information
- supplementary feeding program from March to November – click for more information
- nest box installation and checking occurs in autumn and spring – click for more information
Some fieldwork activities require special skills such as a Working at Heights training certificate for volunteers working up ladders in the field. Parks Victoria kindly provide this training free of charge to volunteers and training programs are frequently offered.
Note all volunteers who participate in field activities must have current “Field” membership – this is an extra $5 a year on top of a regular FLBP membership and is to cover your personal accident and group liability insurance. If you would like to join a field activity but you are not a “field” member please contact us at least 2 weeks before the activity to join as a full field member or to upgrade your membership to include field volunteer. Please see the Membership page for more information.
